Welcome to our family blog.  I thought this could be a great place for all of us to post our comments about the big Anniversary Party!!  It wouldn't be a Roger blog if I didn't have rules.  First one is- use proper spelling and grammar.

  1. Can we really pull this thing off??? Si se puede! Wait, next rule, NO SPANISH!

  3. Diana is helping irma with this blog stuff. :) WOW, okay lets just forget about Diana's birthday 02/08.... THATS COOL TOO.:P

Excuse my daughter, she is turning 15 and very "sensitive". Ok, now that Diana's melodrama is over...

This is a great idea! I realize everyone has been busy, but what's the final plan? I have been monitoring flight informaion and think that us folks that live in "El Chuco", can drive to Dallas and catch a flight for a lot less than flying out of "El Chuco" Kathy, this is not Spanish...I am using Spanglish.

Roundtrip cost flying out of Dallas is about $214...which is pretty reasonable.

Note From Fernando: if there are any issues getting to Florida please speak now.

  4. Diana- Of course we will not forget your birthday. It's the big 15!

Irma- Thanks for responding that sounds like a great plan to fly out of Dallas. I bet you can find cheaper flights.

Also- I need you guys to start sending me pictures of mom and dad, family gatherings or anything like that. I need my mom to ship me all her old photo books and I can get them scanned. I'm going to start working on a video for all of us.

  5. I never thought this family would be able to blog...I have been working on my mother blogging for years and she does well...reading mine. :)

Diana's melodrama is far from over--I think it starts at 14!!! haha

@KATHY-I don't know how long before all the rules are broken, have you ever tried playing boggle with these people! That and I definitely have the doctor handwriting and anytime I can shorten something I will!

Roger-I have actually been working on something similar on a side project for my grandparents, I was actually emailing kathy today to get her help with something, but I will send you the old pictures of grandma and grandpa when I am done, I have them scanned so I can actually email some of them to you. I also have recent ones, this weekend I went down and surprised them and took them on a mini photo shoot and got recent photos of them, it came out good!

As per the trip and Irma's relentless efforts to get people to speak up I am sending an email out today but I might as well tell you here that if we are looking to do a trip for my grandparents, as in weekend and ceremony, I may be able to do that, as far as the family vacation planning going on, I will not be able to go. I cannot afford to go and me and Stephen will not be able to make it. We discussed maybe being able to fly in and fly out for the ceremony or whatever celebration takes place for grandma and grandpa. I don't even know if this affects anyone's plans, but me and Stephen are out for the week-long Florida vacation. I really wish we could go but that is stephen's busiest time of year, and I TRULY hope I have a job by then so i don't know how much flexibility I will have. If anything changes and we can go I will let you all know.

  6. Jennifer and Stephen, thank you for speaking up and calling it how it is. Arcy & Tony ( Sorry, I mean Shirley...the decision-maker), please call it now! I am sure you will agree that this trip can only be a success if the entire family can attend.

If you guys are not able to make it, that's OK, but just say it. That allows us to start considering other options. AGAIN, we need to do this ASAP. Guys, we all understand the different circumstances that have evolved for us all, but if you are commiting then let's get it done. S

Sunday, was a perfect time to have finalized all plans, but nobody was wanting to talk about it. Everyone was avoiding it like the plague.

The Juarez Family keeps applying presure, becuase we need to budget and request the time off from work. We don't want to scramble making reservations two/one-month from the event day.

Again, we completely UNDERSTAND if you can make it, but please just call it now!

  7. As for the Torres family, Gus has not accumulated enough vacation time to be out for an entire week. I will be there for the celebration for my parents. As you all know I am curently looking for a job. If in doubt I find one I am not certain how flexiable my employeer will be therefore I would hate to commit for a week stay in Florida.

The condo's are awesome and would love to be able to afford it, regretless at this time it is not in our budget.

  8. Jen: I'm sorry I haven't responded yet! I always want to wait until I have a lot of time to write all I have to say, but if I do that there will NEVER be enough time OR space! :) Mainly, I just want to let you know now that I would love to collaborate! Since you need something to keep you busy, I'll let you take off with it and I'll help anyway I can. I have tons of pics of Grandma & Grandpa that I'll get to you. My plan was to take an actual portrait of them before they left last time. I wanted to display it alongside their wedding photo. You may have something now so that's taken care of. Anywho, we'll talk for sure very soon!!!

Everyone: IF by some chance this thing does still end up happening here, we do have a caterer lined up and we were planning to completely cover that expense. I'll keep her on hold as longs as possible until we come to a final decision.

If the vacationers list is dwindling, we could look more into beach houses to accommodate those who want to stay for the week and then maybe a decent hotel nearby for those popping in and out??? Just a thought....

  11. House Update- Everyone has agreed to go with the two condos. Yhea!! We will contact the rental company to see if we can get a discount. However, we will be sending out an email with final confirmation from them once we get it.

***Reminder- I need pictures of my mom and dad, family growing up etc. I will scan and return them. I want to put video together.

  15. Locating a priest that is availiable is harder than finding, a methodist that speaks Spanish, cooks menudo :) never mind we have one in the family.

  16. Guys, so what is the deal with the rings? Are we doing a set and splitting the cost four ways? Are we each buying the bands (male/female). I will price out both options and wait for a response.

  17. HI everyone!!! ok, I don't know if everyone knows yet, so I thought I would post it on here. I got a job this past week and it has been going great! I am working with this doctor in dallas that sees a lot of athletes and so my trips to ecuador and el salvador are really paying off! However, he is all about hockey and PGA which I know nothing about...DANG IT! I can't wait for baseball to start because I KNOW THAT! it's exciting. I think I will be star struck when I see Mavs and Rangers players but right now I can't tell the difference between hockey and gold players which you would think I could. I tried looking for the missing teeth but honestly the hockey players are the cute ones with all teeth!!! hehe. I am just excited to have a job and its great that everyone there is so kick back and its wonderful! did I mention we close at 3 on firday...i know this place was practically designed for me! stephen is super excited I have a job and can stop being a scrub...haha.
Also, Irma I had looked up some reasonably priced bands at james avery for my grandparents, my mom asked me to help her look and i did send it to her via email..i will try to forward you all the email if I find it.
AND LASTLY allow me to have a tyler/diana moment and remind everyone that this is my birthday week! Friday I will be 26--GAASH!!! can you believe it? blaaah I can't believe how fast time flies!

    LOVE AND MISS YOU ALL!!!
